Last night, Indian women cricket team lost the group match of the ongoing ICC Women World Cup 2017 against Australia by 8 wickets.
Now, to advance forward in the tournament, India will have to defeat New Zealand in the final group match on Saturday to qualify for the semi-finals.
During the match, Australia’s star cricketer Ellyse Perry committed an offence by obstructing the way of Sushma Verma during India’s innings. Last month, England opener Jason Roy became the first ever player to be given out for ‘obstructing the field’ against SouthAfrica. The only difference was that Perry is a bowler and she tried to get in way of Sushma who was running towards the not-striker’s end to complete a run.
Ellis bowled a length delivery and Sushma gave it a big whack towards square leg. It was going flying over the boundary but Australia’s fielder Bolton, at the boundary made a spectacular effort and prevented the ball from crossing the boundary. She soon recovered from her jump and threw the ball back to the wicketkeeper.
But, when Sushma was completing her run, she was ball watching and she bumped into Ellyse Perry, who didn’t allow her to complete the run and kept her stuck. With it here:
