Fans on social media couldn’t keep calm after Ravi Ashwin and Jos Buttler, who clashed over a controversial Mankad dismissal in 2019, ended up together in the same team at Rajasthan Royals after the mega-auctions IPL 2022 in Bengaluru.
Rajasthan Royals was successful in acquiring the services of the Indian veteran Ravichandran Ashwin on Saturday after a bid of INR 5 crore. Delhi Capitals and RR were involved in a fierce bid for the 34-year-old before Delhi Capitals backed out. Ravi Ashwin will be now seen playing for a new franchise in the upcoming 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
With that, he is set to join England wicket-keeper batter, Jos Buttler in the Rajasthan Royals camp. Jos Buttler was earlier retained by the franchise during the player retentions ahead of the mega-event.
For the unversed, Ravi Ashwin and Jos Buttler had clashed in 2019 when Ashwin, who was then playing for Kings XI Punjab, “mankaded” Jos Buttler, en route to victory over Rajasthan Royals. The controversial dismissal had stirred a debate in the cricket fraternity.
During that game back in 2019, Jos Buttler had stepped out of the crease at the non-striker’s end and Ashwin decided to get rid of the English batter by removing the bails.
Meanwhile, fans on social media went berserk after Ravi Ashwin was bought by Rajasthan Royals and ended up with Jos Buttler in the same team. Fans started a meme-fest on Twitter, expressing their excitement to see how the duo will end up faring in the same team.
