Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya endured a personal tragedy on Saturday as their father Himanshu Pandya died because of a cardiac arrest. Their father suffered a heart attack on Saturday morning and couldn’t survive.
Hardik Pandya, who recently returned back home after the conclusion of limited over series against Australia last month was at home at the time of his father breathing his last. On the other hand, Krunal Pandya, who was leading his team Baroda in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Vadodara, has left the bio-bubble to be there with his family at this difficult time.
As a result, Krunal would not be playing for Baroda in the ongoing Indian T20 tournament. Baroda Cricket Association CEO Shishir Hattangadi told ANI:
“Yes, Krunal Pandya has left the bubble. It is a personal tragedy, Baroda Cricket Association mourns this loss of Hardik and Krunal,”
Both the all-rounders have often spoken about their contribution in supporting the careers as professional cricketers. As per Hardik Pandya, his father was running a small car finance business in Surat but he shut it down and moved to Vadodara to help his sons in getting better access to training facilities.
Later, Himanshu Pandya enrolled both his kids in former India wicketkeeper Kiran More’s cricket academy in Vadodara from where the inspiring journey of both the cricketers began.
Mumbai Indians shared a quote by the late Himanshu Pandya on their official Twitter handle, that read: “Our intentions of letting Hardik and Krunal play cricket from a very young age was questioned and criticized by many. But we were not willing to change out plans, and it’s great to see what they have achieved now.”
