The Indian cricket team returned back to the winnings ways as they thrashed Sri Lanka in the first match of the ongoing 3-match T20I series to lead the series by 1-0. The game made us witness the golden run of Suryakumar Yadav which was beautifully complemented by the Indian bowling unit led by Bhuvneshar Kumar.

Chasing a challenging total of 165 runs for victory, the Sri Lankan cricketers were bowled out at 126 runs in 18.3 overs. Riding on the brilliant performance in the death overs by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar, team India was able to bounce back into the game and bundle up the Sri Lankans.

Debutant Charith Asalanka was a lone warrior, who kept his team in the hunt till the time he was there in the middle. However, he was soon dismissed after he scoring 44 runs off 26 balls.

However, Deepak Chahar gave the much-needed breakthrough and put the contest beyond Lanka’s reach by removing Asalanka in the 16th over.

Vice-captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar turned out to be the hero of the match as he ended up as the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets for 22 runs from his 3.3 overs. Bhuvi didn’t allow the Sri Lankan batsmen to settle and displayed remarkable bowling.

Bhuvneshwar dismissed Avishka Fernando, Chamika Karunaratne, Dushmantha Chameera and Isuru Udana as he bounced back to his form.

Meanwhile, fans on social media went berserk and flooded it with appreciation tweets for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. From cricketers, experts to fans, everyone took to their Twitter and hailed the pacer for his brilliant comeback into the game.

India 1-0 up with a convincing win. For SL young Asalanka looked promising. Surya Kumar Yadav’s 50(34) was a top knock on this wicket. Chahal and Bhuvi were wonderful with the ball. #SLvsIND pic.twitter.com/iz5bIhGNJ3
