Before the match started, the Indian skipper won the toss and decided to ball first. With the help of brilliant performances from Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, and  Colin Munro, the New Zealand cricket team was able to post a mammoth total of 203 for 5. Giving a tough time to the Indian bowlers.

The Indian cricket team started with a shaky note as Rohit Sharma was dismissed cheaply. However, the big blow didn’t stop the Indian skipper and in-form KL Rahul to make everyone sit on the edge of their seats because of their thrilling performance.

Their partnership gave India a much-needed momentum and brought them back on the track to chase down the target. By the time the powerplay ended, India were 65 for 1. Soon, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli crossed the 100-run mark in just the ninth over. But just when everyone thought that these two will take India to the winning side, KL Rahul was dismissed when Ish Sodhi sent him back for 57.

Soon the Indian skipper also made his way towards the pavilion after Blair Tickner dismissed him. He scored 57 off 27 runs, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes.
