Team India continued with their domination in the longest format of the game as they defeated South Africa in the series opener Boxing Day Test match by 113 runs at the Centurion.
It is believed that if there are two places where the visiting sides find it difficult to win, it is the iconic Gabba stadium of Australia and Centurion of South Africa. The Indian cricket team started the year by defeating the might Australia at the Gabba, and they have managed to end the year by defeating South Africa at the Centurion. This speaks volumes about how good the Indian Test cricket team is right now.
The Indian side was truly on top of the game. Despite one full day being washed out because of the rain, the Indian side gave a stellar performance in all the departments of the game. The Indian side was eyeing over 400 runs but South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada ensured that they kept the Indian side below the 350-run mark.

However, the total proved out to be enough for the Indian side as the Indian pace trio — Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj roared back and helped the Indian side take a lead of over 100 runs in the first innings.
On Day 4 of the game, the Proteas bowlers tried to dominate the game as they managed to bundle out the Indian side below 200, with Jansen and Rabada turning out to be the pick of the bowlers. Though the South African skipper led the fightback and kept the hopes alive of his side, but he failed to receive support from the other end as Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah successfully got the better of the rest of the squad.
In the end, the Indian side emerged out to be the winner of the Boxing Day Test match by defeating the Proteas by 113 runs, which was also their first win in the Centurion.
Meanwhile, fans on social media went berserk and flooded Twitter with their amazing reactions to it. From cricketers, experts to fans, everyone came up with their amazing reactions to India’s first win at the Centurion.

Starting the year at the Gabba and finishing it thus at Centurion is a mighty achievement. The WTC final was the only aberration in a great year of test cricket
