Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell earned his biggest payday at the ongoing IPL 2021 auctions after he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping INR 14.25 crores.
The bidding for Maxwell at the IPL 2021 auctions began with Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals but very soon the bidding war began between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Eventually Maxwell was bought by the RCB for a massive amount.
While Glenn Maxwell has been an integral part of the Australia’s T20I squad as he is used regularly in the Top-4 of the team, however, he has been struggling with his form in the IPL for last few years. His score of 552 runs at 187.75 SR was instrumental played an instrumental role in Punjab’s run to the final of the IPL 2014. However, ever since then he has blown hot and cold in the IPL.
Maxwell was bought by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) for INR 10 crores in IPL 2020, however, he had a very disappointing season. He had scored 108 runs at a strike-rate of 101.88 from 13 matches in the previous edition. Despite this fact, Glenn Maxwell has been bought for a whopping 14.25 in IPL 2021 auctions by Royal Challengers Bangalore. It will be interesting to see if he will be able to make a strong comeback in IPL.
