10 Sad Tweets By Virat Kohli Fans After His Unlucky Dismissal

There goes a funny joke on social media that upon his dismissals of late, Virat Kohli gives a reaction indicating it was an unplayable delivery. However, that’s true – over the past year, Kohli has really been dismissed by some absolute peaches which would get any batsman in the world out.

On Saturday in the Bangalore Test versus Sri Lanka, Kohli was once again dismissed by an unplayable delivery from off-spinner Dhananjaya de Silva, and the batter’s reaction told the entire story that there wasn’t anything he or anyone could have done.

The Bangalore surface right from the first session was difficult to bat on, with puff of dust coming out from the pitch as the ball landed in its seam from the first over itself.

Kohli had worked hard for his 23 runs – he stroked a couple of boundaries and didn’t try to hit much away from his body while relying on his hard running between the wickets – before he was dismissed lbw by de Silva.

The ball pitched slightly short on length and was well outside off, turning into Kohli who moved across on his back foot to play it on the leg side. However, to his misfortune, the ball didn’t rise at all, it died down, and scooted almost parallel to the ground after pitching, hitting Kohli on his front pad which was right in front of the stump. Plumb.

Umpire Anil Chaudhary was quick to raise his finger while Kohli was still comprehending what had happened. He stood there stunned looking at the pitch and pondering over his bad luck while was the crowd was made silenced. There was no thought of a review as Kohli took a long while to walk himself off the field.

This was now his 72nd innings in international cricket without a hundred since his last one- 136 in Kolkata against Bangladesh in November 2019. Though Kohli has passed fifty 22 times since his last century but hasn’t managed to convert any of it into his 71st international century.
