Superstar India all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be seen playing and captaining the new Ahmedabad franchise from IPL 2022, after ending his seven-season long association with Mumbai Indians.

Hardik Pandya, who made his IPL debut in 2015 for Rohit Sharma’s side, was released by the 5-time IPL champions. The Baroda cricketer was then picked by Ahmedabad for 15 crore and has been made the captain.

He is joined by Rashid Khan (15 crore) and Shubman Gill (7 crore) as the core players, bought by owners CVC Capital.

As Hardik Pandya moves on after a successful stint at Mumbai, where he won the last four IPL titles, we look at some of the records he achieved.

1.Highest strike rate for Mumbai Indians

Hardik slammed 1476 runs for MI. Those runs came at a brilliant strike rate of 153.91 as he formed a destructive finishing duo with Kieron Pollard, who smashed runs at a strike rate of 149.77. For a minimum of 20 matches played for Mumbai Indians, Hardik has the highest strike rate among all MI batters.

2. Third most sixes for Mumbai Indians

Hardik thumped a total of 98 sixes – third-most by any MI batsman behind Kieron Pollard (249 sixes) and skipper Rohit Sharma (192).

3. Third most sixes in an innings for Mumbai Indians

Pandya harrumphed 9 sixes when he tore into the KKR bowlers in an IPL 2019 game at Eden Gardens. He finished with 91 off 34 balls. Only twice has a Mumbai Indians batsman hit more sixes in an innings than Pandya’s 9 maximums: Sanath Jayasuriya (11 sixes vs CSK), Pollard (10 sixes vs Punjab).

Pollard (9 sixes vs Guyana) and Ishan Kishan (9 sixes vs RCB) equal Pandya’s tally.

4. Second highest strike rate in an innings for Mumbai Indians (minimum of 25 runs): 312.5

Pandya’s whacked 25* off 8 balls against CSK in IPL 2019. For an MI batsman, with minimum of 25 runs in an innings, only Pollard has scored faster, when he walloped 45* off just 13 balls (strike rate of 346.15) versus Delhi in 2010.

5. Third most catches for Mumbai Indians – 53; Pollard has taken 106 catches and Rohit Sharma has taken 70 catches.

6. Join-second highest catches in an innings for Mumbai Indians: 3. He has taken 3 catches in an innings twice – vs KKR in 2020 and vs CSK in 2015; there have been 8 other instances of a MI player taking 3 catches in an innings. Sachin Tendulkar has taken most catches, 4, for MI in an innings- vs KKR in 2008.
