2 Indian Cricketers Who Are Not On Talking Terms With MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni

In cricket, few figures command the respect and admiration that MS Dhoni does. Known for his unflappable demeanor, strategic genius, and an uncanny ability to lead from the front, Dhoni’s career has been nothing short of legendary. However, beneath this veneer of success and camaraderie, there are stories of strained relationships that have emerged over time. Two such notable cases involve Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, both integral to India’s cricketing triumphs but who, for various reasons, are no longer in communication with Dhoni.

Yuvraj Singh –

Yuvraj Singh, whose six sixes in an over against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup became the stuff of legend, was not just a teammate but a key player under Dhoni’s captaincy during the 2011 World Cup victory. Despite this shared history, Singh’s relationship with Dhoni soured over time. In a revealing podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia, Yuvraj hinted at the reasons behind their estrangement. He mentioned that while they shared a professional bond, their personal lifestyles were vastly different, which naturally led to a drift in their friendship. A significant factor exacerbating this distance was the public criticism from Yuvraj’s father, Yograj Singh, who often made derogatory remarks about Dhoni. This familial discord likely played a role in the cooling of their relationship, overshadowing their cricketing achievements together.

Harbhajan Singh –

Harbhajan Singh, with his record-breaking performances and fiery spirit, was another cornerstone of Dhoni’s teams, especially during the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. However, like Yuvraj, Harbhajan too has publicly admitted to a breakdown in communication with Dhoni. While Harbhajan has been relatively tight-lipped about the specifics, his comments suggest a professional respect but a lack of personal interaction. He mentioned in interviews that while they communicated on the field, Dhoni no longer responds to his calls. This silence speaks volumes about the complexities of relationships in the high-pressure world of cricket, where personal equations can be as volatile as the game itself.

Both these instances highlight a broader theme in sports – the delicate balance between professional respect and personal relationships. Dhoni, known for his reserved nature, might have chosen to maintain a distance to avoid any potential conflict or controversy, especially given the public nature of their falling outs. For Yuvraj and Harbhajan, their comments reflect a sense of disappointment, not just in losing a teammate but also a friend, albeit one with whom they shared some of their greatest cricketing moments.

As MS Dhoni gears up for IPL 2025 with Chennai Super Kings, these stories serve as a reminder of the human aspect of sports. Cricket, like any competitive field, is not just about victories and records but also about the relationships formed and sometimes, unfortunately, lost along the way. While fans might continue to admire Dhoni for his cricketing acumen and leadership, these tales of estrangement add layers to his narrative, showcasing that even the most celebrated figures have their share of personal battles and reconciliations. As the cricketing world watches Dhoni in action once more, these stories linger, adding depth to the legend of MS Dhoni, not just as a captain or player, but as a complex figure in the tapestry of cricket.
