2 Players SRH Might Miss Badly In IPL 2025

The IPL auction for the 2025 season has set the stage for some dramatic shifts in team compositions, and for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the departure of two key players could significantly alter their game plan. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has been a cornerstone of SRH’s bowling attack for years, has moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), while Rahul Tripathi, known for his explosive batting, has joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Their absence from SRH might leave a void that could be felt throughout the season.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar – RCB

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been more than just a fast bowler for SRH; he’s been an institution. With his ability to swing the new ball both ways and deliver pinpoint yorkers in the death overs, Kumar has been vital in setting up and closing games for SRH. His economy rate, one of the best among Indian pacers in IPL history, has often been the difference between a win and a loss in tight matches. His departure to RCB, where he’ll likely be looking to mentor and lead a younger bowling lineup, leaves SRH with a significant challenge in finding a bowler of his calibre and experience.

SRH will miss Kumar’s strategic mind on the field. His understanding of the game, coupled with his ability to execute under pressure, made him not just a player but a match-winner. Replacing him will not just be about finding another bowler; it’s about finding someone who can maintain the discipline and control that Kumar brought to the team. His absence might push SRH towards a more aggressive, less consistent bowling strategy, which could be a gamble on pitches that don’t offer much assistance to bowlers.

Rahul Tripathi – CSK

Rahul Tripathi’s move to CSK might be an even bigger loss for SRH in terms of firepower in the batting lineup. Tripathi, with his knack for scoring quick runs, especially in the middle overs, has been instrumental in SRH’s chase or setting up a total. His strike rate, often soaring above 130, provided the team with the momentum needed to either accelerate or stabilize an innings. His ability to play both anchor and aggressor roles made him an invaluable asset.

Tripathi’s departure means SRH needs to scout or nurture another middle-order batsman who can adapt to the role seamlessly. Finding someone who can match Tripathi’s versatility and consistency, particularly on tracks that demand both patience and aggression, will be no small feat. His experience at SRH, where he often played significant innings, leaves a gap that might require a combination of players to fill, potentially affecting the team’s balance and strategy.

The loss of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rahul Tripathi could very well be a significant blow to SRH’s aspirations in IPL 2025. Both players have been pivotal in defining SRH’s approach to the game, with Kumar’s bowling prowess and Tripathi’s batting dynamism. The challenge for SRH now lies not just in filling these roles but in finding players who can bring similar impact and leadership. As the season approaches, SRH’s management and coaching staff will have their work cut out in reshaping the team to mitigate these losses and continue competing at the highest level.
