2 Reasons Why BCCI Should Not Rush Suryakumar Yadav In IPL 2024

Will Suryakumar Yadav Play For Mumbai Indians In IPL 2024? – Suryakumar Yadav, the star Indian batter, has made a name for himself in the T20 format in the last 3 years. He has the innate ability to take down bowling attacks with his unorthodox shots. He is currently the number 1 and most dangerous T20 batter in the world. He has been a consistent player for India in T20I’s and also for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

During the third T20I vs. South Africa in December, Suryakumar Yadav suffered an injury and has been out of cricket since then. Then he underwent sports hernia surgery in January. He is currently rehabilitating in the NCA and getting ready to feature in the upcoming IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup 2024.

Will Suryakumar Yadav Play For Mumbai Indians In IPL 2024?

The BCCI officials are taking absolutely no risk with him. They want their best batter to be absolutely fit for the T20 World Cup in 2024. Surya might miss the first two games for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024.

A BCCI official stated that Suryakumar Yadav’s recovery process is progressing well. He will definitely be able to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, there is uncertainty about whether the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) Sports Science and Medical Team will grant clearance for him to play in the first two away games against the Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 27. While his return to play in the IPL is confirmed, his availability for the initial matches is contingent upon medical clearance from the NCA’s team.

“Suryakumar Yadav’s rehabilitation is on track and he will certainly ‘Return to Play’ in the IPL itself. However it is still not clear whether the NCA’s Sports Science and Medical Team will give clearance to play in the first two away games against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad (March 27),” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

#1: The T20 World Cup 2024 is around the corner

Just after the end of the IPL 2024, the T20 World Cup 2024 will start. Suryakumar Yadav, the number 1 T20 batter in the world, will be the most vital for the Indian cricket team. Rushing him in the IPL 2024 might increase the risk of relapse and hamper India’s chances in the T20 World Cup 2024. India needs a fit and in form SKY in the World Cup.

#2 Can hamper the prospects of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024

In the same way, MI needs a fit and fine Suryakumar Yadav to fire for them. If they rush him early into the IPL 2024, he might aggravate the injury, and that might rule him out of the IPL 2024 fully. Mumbai needs him deep into the tournament. So, he should give him ample time to recover from his injury.
