Virat Kohli vs Mitchell Johnson: Throw, Kiss and Lots of Aggression

Virat Kohli and Mitchell Johnson have a very similar kind of temperament. They are both very aggressive and like to dominate the scene whenever they are in action. Today, on the third day of the third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15, Virat Kohli was at his best and Mitchell Johnson was at the receiving end.

India were 283 for 3 when Virat Kohli played a forward defense and Mitchell Johnson collected the ball in his follow through and fired a throw straight back at Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli got unsettled for sometime after this blow, but he was focused enough to absorb that rush of blood and keep batting. Kohli batted brilliantly and scored 169 runs off 272 balls. He was very aggressive throughout his innings and especially against Mitchell Johnson. He was not afraid to pull the ball whenever Mitchell Johnson banged it short. The battled continued between Kohli and Johnson and lots of words were exchanged in the middle.

Now, look at Virat Kohli blow a kiss to Mitchell Johnson after hitting a four:

There was a little debate in the commentary box and also on Twitter that whether it was legitimate to throw the ball the way Mitchell Johnson did. As always, there two sides, but in the end we sort of came to a conclusion that Mitchell Johnson was well within his rights to throw the ball, the way he did.

All in all, it was a fantastic day of Test cricket, where batsman dominated a little more than the bowlers. It was an absolute treat to watch two very good cricketers (Kohli and Johnson) fight it out against each other in the middle.
