Mumbai’s all-rounder Abhishek Nayar suffered a head injury while fielding on day one of the Ranji Trophy 2014-15 semi-final match between Mumbai and Karnataka at Chinnaswamy stadium. Nayar, who lost his consciousness after suffering the head injury, was admitted to a Bengaluru hospital.
“Nayar had lost consciousness for some time and then failed to recognise people after hurting his head. He was taken to the hospital and CT scan was done which cleared him,” said Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Joint Secretary Nitin Dalal.
“He is out of danger now but has been kept under observation for a day,” Nitin Dalal added.
This incident happened when Abhishek Nayar attempted to throw at the stumps after swooping on the ball off his own bowling and his head hit the turf as he went on a tumble. Television replays showed Nayar lying on the ground for some time when he was attended to and then he completed the over before leaving the field and was taken to the hospital. Later, a CT scan was done which cleared him.
Nayar didn’t bat in the first innings as Mumbai bundled out for 44 in only 15.3 overs.
