During the 3rd match of the One Day International (ODI) series between India and South Africa in 2007, Aleem Dar gave the worst umpiring decision ever. AB de Villiers edged Zaheer Khan’s ball to the first slip and Sachin Tendulkar took a good catch. Indians were celebrating but Aleem Dar, for bizarre reason, gave it not out.
AB de Villiers, who knew he had clearly edged that one did not walk and stood his ground. Indians kept appealing but Aleem Dar was unmoved.
Sachin Tendulkar was absolutely stunned as it was a BIG edge. Ganguly told Zaheer Khan to ask Aleem Dar why he has given this not out. But Aleem Dar was unmoved.
Despite being taken aback by the incident, the Indian team went on win the match by 6 wickets, and took home the series 2-1.
