World Cup 2015: How can Pakistan, Ireland and West Indies qualify for quarter-finals?

FotorCreated

The first round of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 has only two matches left, and these two matches will decide who will proceed to the quarter finals of the mega event. The last two game of the first round- Pakistan vs Ireland and West Indies vs United Arab Emirates, will be watched closely by cricketer lovers across the world as these two games will decide about who will advance to the quarter finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

From Pool A, New Zealand, Australia and Bangladesh have qualified for the quarter finals, whereas India and South Africa are the only two teams from the Pool B who have advanced to the next round of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

Now, the biggest questions is “How can Pakistan, West Indies, Ireland qualify for quarter-finals?”

Pakistan

For Pakistan to qualify for the quarter finals, the equation is very simple- they will have to win against Ireland. Pakistan have six points from five matches and a better Net Run Rate  compared to the West Indies and Ireland.

West Indies

West Indies have only two wins from five matches and their chances to qualify for the quarter finals look a little bleak. If the match ends up without any result, West Indies will be knocked out and Pakistan and Ireland will go through to the quarter finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup, irrespective of the result of their match.

Ireland

For Ireland to go through to the quarter finals, they will have to register a win against Pakistan. In that case, Pakistan will be eliminated and the West Indies will go through to the quarter finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

The Pakistan vs Ireland match will be played at the Adelaide Oval, whereas the West Indies versus United Arab Emirates (UAE) match will be played at the McLean Park in Napier.
