The first day of the second Test, of the ongoing three-match series between England and Sri Lanka at Chester-le-Street belonged to the home team. Alastair Cook elected to bat first after winning the toss, but couldn’t contribute much with the bat as he became a victim of Suranga Lakmal. But more than the delivery it was Dimuth Karunaratna’s catch that led to Cook’s dismissal. Sri Lanka have looked like a very weak opponent in the series so far. They lost the first Test match in just 3 days and looked directionless all throughout the Test match.
