Ravichandran Ashwin is in the form of his life. He has been India’s weapon of destruction in Test cricket, specially in home games. Ashwin is also contributing with the bat and this is the reason why he is world’s number one all-rounder in Test cricket.
In the ongoing series against England, Ashwin has been India’s ‘most valued player’. He hasn’t allowed English batsmen to settle down after the first Test. The slow and turning pitches in Vizag and now in Mohali have helped Ashwin but nothing can be taken away from for being so creative and consistent in taking wickets.
Ashwin always enjoys bowling against opposition’s best batsman and in the ongoing series his biggest target has been England’s captain Alastair Cook. In the second innings of the third Test, he bowled a brilliant delivery to dismiss Alastair Cook.
In the same over Ashwin took Cook’s wicket, he had issues with Joe Root standing close to the stumps but the on-field umpire turned his appeal down as Root was well within his right to stand anywhere away from umpire’s vision. Watch it here:
