Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni batted brilliantly in the second match of the ongoing ODI series against England and turned the clock back in the most spectacular style for Indian cricket fans.
India lost three quick wickets and all eyes were on Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, when they got together at 25 for 3. Dhoni and Yuvraj showed the value of experience and slammed centuries to take India’s score past the 300-run mark.
Yuvraj Singh was the more aggressive player in the partnership as he demolished England’s bowling attack and smacked them all over the park. He batted for 127 balls and scored 150 runs. Yuvraj’s last ODI ton came against West Indies at the 2011 World Cup while MS Dhoni’s, who 134 runs off 122 balls, last hundred came in 2013 against Australia in Mohali.
Dhoni and Yuvraj are two of the most loved cricketers in India and to see them bat together like they did was a very special moment for Indian cricket fans. The last time Dhoni and Yuvraj formed a fifty plus partnership in ODIs was way back in Mumbai in the final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Fans, journalists, cricketers and former cricketers heaped praise on Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni for their spectacular effort. But the most special message came from their former teammate and idol, Sachin Tendulkar. Little Master was watching the game and he wrote a message for ‘superstar’ and ‘rockstar’ on his official Twitter handle.
This is what Sachin Tendulkar wrote:
