Virat Kohli registered his first T20I win as India’s full-time limited-overs captain in second T20I of the ongoing series between India and England. It was an absolute nail-bitter and Indian bowlers, specially Jasprit Bumrah, held their nerves and defended a modest total of 144 runs in 20 overs. India’s fast bowlers, Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly in the match. While Nehra was brilliant in his first spell with the new ball, Bumrah bowled outstandingly well in the last over of the match and defended 8 runs.
India’s captain Virat Kohli was all praise for his fast bowlers. Kohli said that Nehra and Burma’s effort even with the dew on the ground was outstanding.
This is what Virat Kohli said:
“It’s important to have belief. It was a case of us executing well initially. You don’t want to let the momentum slip away in the middle overs, especially with the series on the line. But the way spinners bowled in the middle, and then the effort of Nehra and Bumrah with dew was outstanding,” Kohli said at the post-match press conference.
“Nehra knew exactly what he wanted to do, Bumrah was asking me every ball what I thought he should do. I told him ‘just bowl what comes naturally to you,’ he added.
England’s captain Eoin Morgan also praised Bumrah after the match. Morgan said that Bumrah produced a match-winning over and sealed a victory for India.
“We didn’t start the final over well. The wicket was tough, but fair play, he (Bumrah) produced a match-winning over. I thought we bowled really well to back up our previous performance with the ball, but with the last two games, we’ve been right on the money,” Morgan said.
