IPL 2017: Rising Pune Supergiant’s MS Dhoni played a brilliant inning last night and scripted a much-needed victory for his side in the ongoing tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni was under a lot of pressure coming into this game due to poor batting form, but the man from Ranchi chose the right occasion and showed to the world that there is a lot of cricket left in his and he is still one of the best finishers in the game.
Dhoni, who scored unbeaten 61 runs off 34 balls and took his side home with a last ball boundary, said he doesn’t take pressure of mounting run rate and said it’s only about how one can keep his calm under pressure and executive the plans.
“There is no run-rate that is high. It boils down to how well the opposition bowlers execute. So seven, eight, nine, ten, doesn’t matter. What matters is keeping your calm,” said Dhoni, who was declared the Man of the Match.
Dhoni also acknowledged that it wasn’t an easy chase as wickets kept tumbling and Sun Risers Hyderabad have one of the best bowling units in the tournament.
“It was a difficult one. But it was important that since we had strikers in the back of the innings, it was important we take Rashid (Khan) out of the game. And one side we can hit with the breeze. One side can always hit with it,” he said.
Rising Pune Supergiant’s skipper Steve Smith heaped praises on MS Dhoni for his match-winning knock. Smith said that Dhoni has done many time before in his career and he came good again under pressure for RPS.
“Got pretty close towards the end, but MS (Dhoni) did what’s he’s done for such a long period of time. Under pressure, he comes good again,” Steve Smith said.
