IPL 2017: Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of IPL 2017. This announcement was made after Ashwin, who is suffering from sports hernia, underwent scans in Mumbai after the final Test of the India-Australia series in Dharamsala.
Now, Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) are looking for a good replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin and according to sources close to the franchise, RPS skipper Steven Smith can consider his Australian teammate Nathan Lyon to replace Ashwin in the squad for IPL 2017. Lyon, who impressed one and all with his off-spin in the recently concluded series between India and Australia, is Australia’s best spinner and he will be very useful in Indian conditions.

“It could well be skipper Steve Smith’s call if he wants to replace the best Indian spinner with the best Australian spinner. If that happens, it will be interesting to see if Lyon has the same impact as Ashwin,” the source said.
