IPL 2017: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have announced Harpreet Singh as Sarfaraz Khan’s replacement for the remainder of IPL 2017. Sarfaraz, 19, got injured during one of the practice session before the start of tournament.
Harpreet Singh was ignored by IPL franchises during the auction due to a bizarre reason. He was arrested by Mumbai Police after being mistaken for Harmeet Singh, a former IPL and Ranji player who was arrested for driving his car into one of the platforms of the Andheri station in Mumbai.
Harpreet is a very talented batsman and he was in sparkling form before in the domestic season 2016/17. He smashed 211 runs in four matches for the Central Zone in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, at an average of 52.75. Many pundits had predicted that he would be one of the picks of the season but that bizarre incident changed everything for him.
Harpreet has played for Pune Warriors India and Kolkata Knight Riders in the past and he will soon join the RCB squad, who are desperately looking to find good form after winning just 2 out of 6 matches in the tournament so far. RCB are currently placed sixth in the points table.
