Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has picked his IPL fantasy dream team. He shared his dream playing XI via micro blogging site, Twitter.
Ganguly’s team includes players from six different sides from this season of the IPL. the team consists of the players from Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Daredevils, and lastly Kolkata Knight Riders.
According to Ganguly, the opening pair should be of Delhi batsmen Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.
At number three, Ganguly picked Australian and Rising Pune Super Giant captain Steve Smith. The batsman has been in superb form in the tournament with 224 runs so far.
In the middle order, AB De Villiers comes in at number four and Mumbai indians batsman Nitish Rana at number 5. De Villiers missed a few IPL games due to his injury but has played some good knocks after his return.
Nitish Rana, the 23 year-old batsman has been hitting the ball with ease and has scored consistently for the Mumbai based franchisee. In the IPL so far, Rana has 266 runs to his name and is the 4th highest run scorer.
Next in, Manish Pandey and Rishabh Pant were picked. While Pandey is a player who settles in and then plays his shots, Pant is a destructive batsman by nature and gets going from the word “go”! The Delhi batsman can hit the ball hard and has the ability to change the game for his side. He adds to it with his wicket-keeping skills. Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Manish Pandey provided the support needed and is a reliable and experienced campaigner.
It comes as a big surprise as MS Dhoni is not included in the XI. Ganguly earlier said that Dhoni is not best suited for the shortest format of the game.
Spinners Amit Mishra and Sunil Narine would make a deadly combination.Mystery spinner Narine has been opening the innings for KKR and has scored runs each time at a good strike rate. Amit Mishra is experienced and possesses some good variations with his traditional leg break.
In the fast bowling department, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is an automatic choice. The Indian medium pacer has been excellent with the ball and has 16 wickets so far. He is the purple cap holder. Along with him, South African all-rounder Chris Morris is a good pick. The fast bowler can hit the ball and score some handy runs down the order. Even Bhuvi is a good batsman and provides depth to the batting line up.
