MS Dhoni hasn’t been in good touch in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL) so far. With embarrasing scores of 12*, 5 and 11 in the 3 IPL matches, Dhoni has looked horribly out of touch with the bat. Although many would argue that the tournament is still very young and there are many more matches to come, but looking at the way Dhoni has struggled to rotate the strike in the middle, it is looking an uphill task for the legendary Indian cricketer.
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly while speaking to India Today said that Dhoni is a champion ODI players but he hasn’t done all that well in the shortest format of the game. Ganguly said that Dhoni has just one fifty in T20Is and that’s not a very good record for a batsman of his class and caliber.
“I am not too sure if Dhoni is a good T20 player. He is a champion ODI player but when it comes to T20 cricket, in 10 years, he has got one fifty and that’s not the best record.”
The ICC Champions Trophy 2017 is scheduled to take place immediately after IPL 2017 and all the performance in the tournament will be taken in consideration while selecting the squad for the Champions Trophy in England. Talking about that, Ganguly said he will pick MS Dhoni for Champions Trophy but he has to score runs in IPL 2017.
“I will pick Dhoni for the Champions Trophy but he has to score runs,” said Ganguly.
