Indian Premier League (IPL 2017): Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) swashbuckling batsman Yuvraj Singh entertained the big crowd at Rajiv Gandhi stadium in Hyderabad. It was the opening match of IPL 2017 and all eyes were on the defending champions when they took the field to defend their title against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
SRH’s captain David Warner went back early but Shkhar Dhawan and Moises Henriques batted brilliantly together and put up a good partnership for the second wicket. But Dhawan departed after scoring 40 runs and Yuvraj Singh came in to bat. Yuvraj played attacking cricket right from the moment he came in and didn’t allow Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowlers to settle down. He played in his trademark flamboyant style and entertained the big crowd in Hyderabad with his powerful hitting.
Yuvraj reached his fifty in just 23 balls and this is now his fastest fifty in IPL cricket. The left-hander scored 62 runs off 27 balls at a strike rate of 229.63 and smashed 7 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. It was a ‘vintage Yuvi’ knock as Yuvraj turned the clock back by playing all his favourite strokes.
During his innings, there was a moment when the camera pointed towards Yuvraj Singh’s wife Hazel Keech and the crowd erupted with joy. Yuvraj, who was batting in the middle, saw his beautiful wife on the giant screen and waved his bat towards her, in his own style. The moment was caught on camera and the crowd enjoyed it, too.
