South Africa made it 6 victories out of 6 against Sri Lanka this year after it easily brushed aside the Lankans by 96 runs in the 3rd match of the ICC Champions trophy yesterday. Put in to bat first, South Africa managed to score 299 runs riding on Hashim Amla’s hundred and Faf du Plessis efficient 75, though they slight faded during the death overs.
But South Africa’s bowling line-up made a mockery of Sri Lanka’s batting line-up as they crumbled to 203 all out. Imran Tahir was pick of the bowlers with match winning figures of 4-27 in 8.3 years. He broke the back bone of Srilanka’s batting by getting regular wickets especially of their captain Tharanga who made a well batted 57.
While Tahir’s bowling performance received wide spread applaud but it was his epic celebratory run which stole all the limelight yesterday. Tahir is known for making big runs towards the stands every time he takes a wicket.
Yesterday also Tahir made a big run towards the stands after picking up a Sri Lankan wicket but this time his running speed got caught on the speedo meter. He ran at an exceptional high speed of 24Kmph before calming down and sharing the happiness with his team mates.
