India was able to dominate and win the Test series against the Lankans. There were many memorable moments for the Indians. Here’s a look at the top 5:
Shikhar Dhawan blitzkrieg:
Dhawan is one batsman who has an attacking style of play and he did not let Test cricket change his aggressive nature. In the first match against the Lankans, he smashed 190 at more than run a ball to set the series rolling and give India their first win.
Dhawan then followed it up with another century in the third Test and would have enjoyed his stint in the middle, gaining some valuable experience and giving the selectors a headache.
Ravis on fire:
Both the Ravis of the Indian team – Ashwin and Jadeja, were both on fire. The all-rounders, who are ranked amongst the top three in the world, wreaked havoc with their incisive bowling and also chipped in with some crucial runs down the order.
Though Jadeja was banned for the Third test, he had done more than enough, winning us the series and picking up a Man of the Match in the second test.
Pujara’s unstoppable form:
Cheteshwar Pujara could have been forgiven for taking his time to adapt to the series after a long break without international cricket. Instead, he picked up right from where he left the Australia series, scoring century after century.
Pujara was just unstoppable in his barrage, smashing runs and becoming the world’s highest Test runs scorer in 2017.
Hardik Pandya’s dream debut:
If there was one thing that was confirmed in this series, it was the fact that Hardik Pandya can bring another dimension to the Indian team. He was superb while batting, scoring a half-century in his first ever test innings.
He was sharp and alert as ever on the field, picking up wickets and taking some good catches whilst stopping runs. If he continues this form, India will be in a good place for many years to come.
Kuldeep Yadav’s magic in the last Test
Kuldeep Yadav was picked as Jadeja’s replacement in the third Test. Yadav tricked the Lankan batsmen in the first innings. He picked 4 crucial wickets and most of Sri Lankan batsmen couldn’t pick his varieties. This is a big plus for India as it will add to their already spectacular spin variety.
