India continued the decimation of Sri Lankan bowlers on the second day of the ongoing test match series with both the centurions from yesterday making a mockery of their bowling attack. After the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, India rode on a strong batting performance by its lower order and declared at a commanding score of 622 for 9.
Sri Lanka did have a few moments to celebrate, but India looked too strong for their relatively inexperienced bowling line-up. Virat Kohli declared on 622 for 9 and gave Sri Lankan batsman 20 overs to survive on a pitch that had begun puffing up clouds of dust.
But even before Sri Lankan batsman could get a feel of the pitch, India’s prime spinner Ravichandran Ashwin sent Sri Lankan opener Upul Tharanga back to pavilion for a duck. More than Ashwin’s bowling, it was K L Rahul’s amazing catch that caused the downfall of Tharanga.
Fielding at short leg, K L Rahul managed to hold on to a tough chance. Ashwin’s juicy, short leg stump bowl was directly hit towards Rahul, and luckily for him it stuck in his midriff. His amazing catch sent the Indian team in frenzy especially Captain Kohli. who had a special dab celebration for the catch.
