India vs Australia is one of the most competitive battles in world cricket, specially in ODI cricket. The first half of the first match of the ongoing 5-match series between India and Australia, was an entraining one to watch as MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya formed a very solid partnership and bailed India out from a very difficult situation.
Australia started brilliantly with the ball after losing the toss. Fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile made the maximum use of the new ball and troubled India’s top order with his swing. It started with Ajinkya Rahane, who chased a wide delivery and edged it to Mathew Wade. Soon, Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey followed and India were in a big spot of bother of 11 for 3.
Rohit Sharma and Kedar Jadhav formed a little partnership but Rohit Sharma threw his wicket away trying to pull a shot delivery. Jadhav played a couple of brilliant shorts but he also got out playing pull short.
But, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya batted with patience and added stability to the innings. The over that shifted the momentum to India’s favour was the one in which Hardik Pandya smashed 3 consecutive sixes off Adam Zampa. Pandya didn’t hold himself back after that over and played huge strokes all around the park.
However, it was Zampa who had the last laugh as he was dismissed on the figth ball of his ninth over. After Pandya’s dismissal, MS Dhoni took the charge and helped India reach the total of 281 for 7 in 50 overs.
