After making the visitors taste defeat in tests and ODIs now it’s time for the shortest format of international cricket. The T20 series between India and Sri Lanka begins tomorrow at Cuttack and India would want to settle for no less than a clean sweep.
Yet again the responsibility to lead the team is on Rohit’s shoulders as Virat has been rested. Rohit has had a great captaincy debut as under his leadership India thrashed Sri Lanka 2-1 in the ODI series that just went by.
While Sri Lanka’s new skipper, Thishara Parera seemed submissive in the ODI series, Rohit Sharma led by example and that’s where the results went in India’s favour. This is India’s last International engagement for the year and given how good this year has been for men in blue, they would only want to end it on a winning note.
Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been exempted from the series and there are a lot of new names in India’s T20 squad for playing against Sri Lanka. Odds are in India’s favour by all means but yet India wouldn’t want to be complacent.
Here’s the predicted XI for the first ODI: Rohit Sharma (C), Lokesh Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj and Jaydev Unadakat.
