The ODI series between India and Sri Lanka has come to an end with India lifting the trophy. It started with a debacle for India in the first game at Dharamshala but India went to authoritatively win the next two games and also the series.
By winning the last of the 3 ODIs at Vizag today India went on to add another feather to the illustrious year 2017 has been for team India.
India won the toss at Vizag
This was the first occasion in this series when Rohit Sharma saw the toss going in his favour. Having won the toss India put visitors in to bat and after losing a wicket early Sri Lanka looked well on top. Tharanga and Samarawickrama got a great partnership and shifted pressure back on India. Both shared a partnership of well over 100 and Sri Lanka seemed to be crushing towards a hefty total.
One over from Kuldeep changed things
Sadeera Samarawickrama was dismissed by Chahal on 42 after the partnership between him and Tharanga had bothered India long enough. That was the turning point of the game and that is where the Lankans had lost the road ahead.
Then a Kuldeep Yadav over changes things for even worse. Dhoni sent back the settled Tharanga with a lightening fast stumping and Dickwella came to the crease. Dickwella, the Lankan wicket keeper showed positive intent and hit Kuldeep Yadav for two boundaries right after coming out to bat.
Dhoni’s tactics right on the money
Then after event hit for two fours who could have offered a tactical solution better than MS Dhoni. There’s a reason why he’s called the greatest cricketing brain after all. MS Dhoni shared his experience and knowledge with Kuldeep Yadav then seeing him lose his line.
The Mahi magic worked the very next ball and Dickwella was out, caught at skip by Shreyas Iyer. That’s why most of the Indian cricketers blindly trust Dhoni given his knowledge and awareness of the game.
