5 Big Names Which Went Surprisingly Underpriced In The IPL Auctions 2018

The IPL auctions 2018 like every time had a lot of surprises in store to be unleashed. As the franchises went full throttle to refabricate their teams all over again, we got to witness some spectacular purchases.

The highest bid of 2018 saw Ben Stokes going to Rajasthan Royals for 12.5 crores and then Rajasthan also bought the most expensive Indian player in the auctions, Jaydev Unadkat for 11.5 crores.

But besides these spectacular purchases the IPL auctions also some greatest international players either going unsold or for undervalued prices.

  1. Colin Munro

The only guy with 3 T20I centuries went to the Delhi Daredevils. The Kiwi opening batsman who has a strike rate of 157 in T20 internationals went for just 1.9 crores while others took as much as 6-7 crores. While the likes of Manish Pandey and KL Rahul got 11 crores, Munro would be disappointed to have been undervalued.

2.Chris Gayle

The best ever batsman and the most destructive one to have played T20 cricket went unsold on day 1 and this was a fact hard to digest for everyone. Gayle has 5 IPL centuries to his name and his strike rate stands at a thundering 151 in the Indian Premier League. Yet the beast went for just 2 crores to Kings XI Punjab.

3. Faf Du Plessis

An average of 30 in the Indian Premier League and a strike rate of 127, the South African captain was expected to be a hotshot in the auctions. But things were totally opposite as Du Plessis went for just 1.6 crores to the Chennai Super Kings.

4. Yuvraj Singh

The stunning hitter and perhaps the best one at the job has taken the brunt of his dipping form and fitness. Yuvraj Singh came back to his home team, Kings XI Punjab but he went for just 2 crores which are far too little for his repute of being the savage hitter he is. Yuvraj Singh went for 2 crores to the Kings XI Punjab.
