The highest bid of 2018 saw Ben Stokes going to Rajasthan Royals for 12.5 crores and then Rajasthan also bought the most expensive Indian player in the auctions, Jaydev Unadkat for 11.5 crores.

But besides these spectacular purchases the IPL auctions also some greatest international players either going unsold or for undervalued prices. But some players got more than what they expected and these form the list of players who went overpriced in the IPL auctions.

  1. Jaydev Unadkat

Well, he’s surely a great talent but when Mitchel Starc gets sold for 9.4 crores and Unadkat takes 11.5 crores then we have no option but to call him overpriced. Jaydev Unadkat’s purchase is the most expensive one among Indian players going into the auction.  He ended up bagging a price even Higher than what Jasprit Bumrah got for his retention.

  1. KL Rahul

Still in the initial stage of his career and a grooming batsman. He’d be really happy to have gone for 11 crores while the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir and many better batsman went for modest prices.

  1. Jofra Archer

The uncapped English player bagged 36 times more than his base price. Archer, the BBL star went for Rs 7.2 crores to the Rajasthan Royals. The 22-year-old certainly went over the top in terms of his IPL paycheque.

  1. Rashid Khan

The young sensation from Afghanistan is surely a great T20 bowler but is he as good as being worth 9 crores? Even though he’s the second-ranked bowler in the ICC T20 rankings but we still feel that his bid too went over the top and he went overpriced.

  1. Sanju Samson

While Dhawan went for 5.2 crores, Rahane for 4 crores, Sanju Samson went for a whopping 8 crores to the Rajasthan Royals. He was surely going to be a hot buy given he is a wicket-keeper batsman but then 8 crores, the price he went for is certainly hyped.
