It was for the first time in this series that India won the toss and India decided to bat first at Johannesburg. But the start was not the one India would have liked at both the openers were sent back to the hut early. While KL Rahul went for a duck, Murali Vijay ended up scoring just 8 runs.
KL RAHUL’s DISMISSAL BROUGHT PUJARA AT THE CREASE
In the second test at The Centurion, Cheteshwar Pujara created a unique record by being run out in both the innings. Pujara was very nervous as he walked out to bat and what was on display was his unbelievable patience. Unlike Centurion Cheteshwar Pujara showed no signs of desperation.
HALF CENTURY OF DOT BALLS FOR PUJARA
Cheteshwar Pujara showed a great temperament against the lethal South African attack ever since his advent at the crease. Pujara made a half-century of dot deliveries and got off the mark on the 54th ball he faced. As Pujara got off the mark on his 54th delivery, there was a laugh on relief on his face and even the Indian dressing room laughed about it.
SEE HOW PUJARA LAUGHS AFTER GETTING OFF THE MARK
Getting off the mark on his 54th delivery brought a great relief to Pujara. It would have been really the butt of jokes had Pujara got out for a duck having faced so many deliveries. The pitch at Johannesburg has been doing a lot and with the kind of bowling attack, South Africa has it has been a real struggle for the Indian batsman.
