Prithvi Shaw Explained Why He Chose The Jersey Number 100

Prithvi Shaw is an elated and proud captain of the team that has brought the under 19 World Cup home. India remained unbeaten in the tournament and every win they registered was a huge one. The boys finally landed in Mumbai yesterday and they are profusely happy and proud of themselves. Why shouldn’t they be? Prithvi Shaw, the skipper of the team expressed great happiness and pride on his return to India with the cup.

“There a lot of memories created. I can’t express, what I am feeling right now. I am just happy,”

Why did he choose the jersey number as ‘100?’

Prithvi Shaw also explained the reason why he chose the jersey number 100. Here is what he said

“I like the number. In Hindi (sau) it sounds like my surname Shaw,”

While for others it is about superstitions, for Shaw the reason behind choosing this jersey number is pretty subtle and simple.

“He is a legend but he created such an environment that we could talk to him like a friend,”

Shaw further added

“He is such a simple man. The way he carries himself is remarkable. After the win, he told us to remain grounded,”
