The young spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have all the accolades in the world for their amazing success in South Africa. They have almost shown a dead end to Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in limited overs cricket and seems like the same could soon happen in the longest format of the game.
Sourav Ganguly Prefers Kuldeep Over Ashwin and Jadeja For Tests In England
The former Indian captain in an interview with India Today said that he would want to see Kuldeep Yadav play test matches in England ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
Sourav Ganguly emphasized how successful wrist spinners have been in the past. He also cited the example of Shane Warne while talking about the great success the wrist spinners have been able to garner in cricket. Next on cards for India is a test series in England and Ganguly is clearly backing Kuldeep Yadav to play ahead of Ashwin and Jadeja.
“I know in England, Kuldeep will play Test matches. I can see that happening. It’s tough on Ashwin and Jadeja. Tougher on Ashwin because his Test record is remarkable. I am sure he (Ashwin) will still make the trip but whether he plays or not, we have to see when they get to England”
Sourav Ganguly further added
“Wrist spinners have been successful in world cricket. Look at Shane Warne. I am not comparing them (Kuldeep and Yuzvendra Chahal) to Warne because Warne was an absolute champion. I think they (Indian team) have gone the right way.”
