India has finally avenged the defeat they got from Sri Lanka in the first game of the Nidahas Trophy. India posted an easy victory over the hosts as India chased down the target of 153 in just 17.3 overs. India won the game by 6 wickets to reach the top of the points table.

A crucial partnership between Dinesh Karthik and Manish Pandey saw India reach the target swiftly. Both remained unbeaten on 39 and 42 respectively and saw India home. Raina played a little cameo of 27 before departing.

The tournament got wide open after every team in the ongoing T20 tri-series in the Nidahas Trophy managed one win each. Today as Sri Lanka took on India in their second encounter in the series, the match started with a delay because of rain and the match was cut short to 19 overs per side.

India won the toss and decided to bowl first. After the Lankans got off to a flying start in the first ten overs, they were pulled back in the latter half of the innings by Indian bowlers and could only manage to post a modest total of 152 for 9 in their 19 overs. For India, Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers who picked up 4 wickets for 27.

What has not changed in this series so far is the dismal form of captain Rohit Sharma who has the big shoes of Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma has been miserable in leading the team from the front rather has got out cheaply in all three matches and has left the team in trouble.

After a poor run with the bat in the first two games, today was no different for Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma got out for 11 today and once again failed to contribute with the bat. Soon after Rohit Sharma, the in-form Shikhar Dhawan too departed in a rare flop in recent times. Dhawan after two consecutive fifties in the series could only score 8 today.
