Won’t Label Ourselves As Favorites: Rohit Sharma
Talking about the uncertainties of T20 cricket and how unpredictable the tournament is, the Indian captain for this tour, Rohit Sharma said
“We won’t label ourselves as favourites. The T20 format is unpredictable and you got to be on the money at all times. Both our oppositions are strong and we look forward to a good contest”’
In the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma would have the big responsibility to lead the team which has a talented but under-experienced pool of youngsters.
For this trophy, the senior bench of players including the regular skipper, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav have all been rested.
Honour For Me To Lead The Side: Rohit Sharma
Talking about how honoured he feels to be leading this side, Rohit Sharma further added, “We are happy to be here and expect to play some good cricket in the Nidahas Trophy. It is an honour for me to lead the side and it is going to be no different in this series. I am excited to see how this young team performs,”
Rohit Sharma is an experienced captain when it comes to the shortest format of the game and a lethal batsman. He happens to be most successful captain in the Indian Premier League and he would want to use all of that experience on this tour and win the series.
His biggest challenge would be the encourage youngsters like Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur, Vijay Shankar and others to do well at the international level.
