With the series poised at 2-1, the Kiwis going into the fourth ODI had no choice but to win the fourth ODI to remain alive in the 5 match ODI series against England. When New Zealand was desperate for a win to keep their hopes in the series alive, it was one of their most experienced men, Ross Taylor who rose to the occasion on the day it mattered the most.
The Kiwis won the toss and elected to bowl first but the decision turned out to be a sheer nightmare. After the opening partnership of 77 between Jason Roy and Johny Bairstow, the wicket of Jason Roy only worsened things for the Kiwis. Bairstow went on to make 138 while Joe Root played superbly for his 102. Both of these Englishmen stitched a marathon partnership of 190 runs for the second wicket.

ROSS TAYLOR: THE HERO OF THE KIWIS
After England had set a mammoth total of 335 on the board, the Kiwis lost both their openers for just 2 runs. Then it was down to Williamson and Ross Taylor to steer the innings. Williamson perished for 45 and then Taylor found a great partner in Tom Latham. Tom Latham scored 71 but it was Taylor who played the real marathon inning of 181 runs of 147 deliveries.
He was unlucky to reach a double hundred but then he would be happy to have remained unbeaten and see his side home and survive in the series. The series is now 2 each and it sets a perfect stage for an exciting final.

KKR can easily sign Ross Taylor in case Chris Lynn doesn't attain full fitness for IPL. Or even as a replacement of Andre Russell who is almost certain to miss the first few weeks of IPL.

Ross Taylor scored 950 runs (1147 balls) without hitting a Six in his last 21 ODI innings. He hit SIX SIXES in this innings alone. #NZvENG

Did Ross Taylor just smash a six and then grab his crotch Michael Jackson styles? That was a great moment in Nz cricket history. #Blackcaps

Well done Ross Taylor. This innings will seal a spot for him in the @IPL

If there is ever a thing about associating a player with certain shots like, SRT for Straight drives, Lara for Cover drives.. Ross Taylor should be up there for slog sweeps. That hitting against Akhtar in the 2011 WC still remains fresh.

Take a bow, Ross Taylor! That’s one of the greatest one day knocks. Ever.

Ross Taylor proves again why he's currently NZ's greatest-ever batsman. What a man for a crisis.
