Twitter Lauds Shikhar Dhawan For A Great Knock In The First T20

It wasn’t the greatest of starts for India’s campaign at the Nidahas Trophy as early wickets yet again became an issue for India. After being asked to bat first, India lost skipper Rohit Sharma for a duck in the very first over and then Suresh Raina too followed soon.

In the absence of Kohli, while the team would have wanted Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina to take up the responsibility, they failed. It was then Shikhar Dhawan who guided team India to a respectable total with a stupendous knock of 90 from just 49 deliveries. He would have loved to have a T20 century to his name but nevertheless, his knock was so vital for the team.

A crucial partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Panday worth 95 runs saw India reach a decent and a respectful total. India ended up at 174 from its quota of 20 overs. Manish Panday played a small cameo of 37 runs from 35 balls.

India would feel that they fell 20-25 runs short as other batsmen besides Shikhar Dhawan seemed to be struggling to time the ball. Rishabh Pant seemed struggling with his timing too and could only manage 23 from 23 balls and this is where India would feel they fell short of the total they have liked.

Even though we feel bad for Shikhar Dhawan for having missed out on an amazing century but still he was the hero for India and if it was not for his marathon inning then India would have really struggled to get a decent total onboard.
