The former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni has been receiving criticism for his performance lately. He has been struggling with his performance since a few months now and has failed to emulate his hard-hitting abilities of the past. Having scored only 156 runs in the 9 matches played in this season, also he was far from giving his best in the recently concluded Asian Cup, has put him under the scanner with the 2019 World Cup fast approaching.
His presence in the team for World Cup has become one of the most debatable topic ever. Be it social media or the real world, people are often seen discussing about the same. Many top cricketers including, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and many more, have came out and supported the former skipper by saying he is still the best in the business.
Recently in an interview AB de Villiers was also asked if MS Dhoni should call time on his playing career, AB de Villiers supported him and said that he would want him to play in his team every day of every year as he is just fantastic. AB de Villiers still regards him as the true match-winner. He said :
“You guys are funny. No, I would play MS Dhoni in my team every day of every year. He can be 80, in a wheelchair, and he would still play for my team. He is fantastic I mean look at his record. You want to drop a guy like that? You can go ahead by all means. I wouldn’t,”
Well, we can’t agree more on him on this matter. MS Dhoni is one of the most experienced player in the squad and his experience and inputs has always done wonders for the Indian cricket team, even if he is not able to give his best with the bat, his presence on the field is still turning out in favors for Indian team.
AB de Villiers also talked about his chemistry with the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. He said that he thoroughly enjoyed playing alongside him for RCB in IPL. Praising his performances, he said Virat is Ronaldo, while he is the Messi. He said :
“There is definitely some chemistry about us batting together. We have a similar mindset about the game which we enjoy. “
He added :
“It’s nice to bat with someone who understands the way you play and also the mutual understanding. He likes Ronaldo so let him be that and I’ll be Messi, will take that gladly,”
Talking further about Virat’s growing stature as the skipper, AB de Villiers said that he is getting better and that’s scary. He said :
“He is a really good captain and getting better. That is the scary part. As a batsman he has got areas where he can improve and that is also scary, so all in all, he is in a great place in his work.”
Well, we completely agree with him. They are the Messi and Ronaldo of cricket who turns out to be a nightmare for the bowlers.
