Rishabh Pant Was Asked To Share His Views On Virat Kohli’s Captaincy. Here’s What He Said

At just 21 years of age, Rishabh Pant has already achieved what the others can only dream of. He is touted to be the ‘next big thing’ in the cricketing world. Rishabh is India’s primary wicket-keeper in the world and he continues to shine in the shortest formats as well.

Now as MS Dhoni has made himself unavailable for upcoming India’s tour to West Indies, Rishabh Pant will be filling his space. However, it’s not that easy to fill in the boots of the great Mahi. Talking about the same in an interview with Hindustan Times, Rishabh Pant said:

“I know those are big shoes to fill, but if I start thinking about it there will be a problem. Right now, I am not thinking about what people say. I am just focusing on what I have to do. I just want to do well for my country. That’s the only thing I am focusing on. I take the challenge positively. Now I have to see what I can learn, and what I can do to improve.”

In the interview, he was also asked about how it feels to play in the team with greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, to which Rishabh Pant was all praises for the captain Kohli. He said:

The best thing about this team is that you can talk to anyone and ask them for advice. And if you feel like you have a suggestion, you too can pitch in. Virat bhaiyya always listens, he never thinks like if he is the captain he shouldn’t listen to a youngster. In fact, it gives players like me great confidence that your captain is listening to you, taking your suggestions, even though you are just a youngster. That is a very big deal for me,”

Talking about upcoming India’s tour to West Indies, Rishabh Pant was named India’s sole wicket-keeper in the ODI and T20I squads.
