The England cricket won their maiden World Cup by beating New Zealand in the final on July 14th. The finale turned out to be one of the most thrilling matches of the tournament, that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Players of both the teams gave their all and displayed some jaw-dropping performances at the Lords.

The match went down for the first-ever ‘Super Over’ in a World Cup after the scores ended up in a tie. 15 runs were needed from the super over, but, the Super Over also ended up in a tie. The England cricket team won their maiden world cup on the basis of the number of boundaries hit by them.

England’s cricket players were at the top of the world after their maiden victory in World Cup. Fans flooded the social media with posts praising their performance and congratulating them on their win.

Meanwhile, Queen was delighted by England’s performance in the mega event. The Queen congratulated the English team and sent a couple of messages, posted on The Royal Family’s Twitter handle by a series of tweets. The message read:

Prince Philip and I send our warmest congratulations to the England Men’s Cricket team after such a thrilling victory in today’s World Cup final,” the first message read.

I also extend my commiserations to the runners-up New Zealand, who competed so admirably in today’s contest and throughout the tournament,” her second message read.
