The 4th Test match of Ashes series 2019 is underway at Old Trafford, Manchester and the 2 giants, Australia and England are battling it out for the little urn. With the visitors in the driving seat at present, a controversy has emerged from the event, as Shane Warne made a controversial comment over the umpiring standards while on-air. The veteran leg-spinner stated that umpires should give their decisions based on the number of reviews left with the team.
After the competition of 3 Test matches, the series is currently levelled at 1-1, with 2nd Test match producing no winners. The 4th Test match is on the verge of its competition as the 3rd innings is under the proceeding with Australia building a massive lead. England scored only 301 runs in reply to Australia’s 497 runs. Steve Smith has been the real warrior for Australia in this series so far.
Apart from the match, a whole new controversy has been given birth by the on-screen commentator Shane Warne. Warne first started the debate over the comparison of Steve
Smith and Virat Kohli as to who is the better batsman. The cricketer turned commentator stated that the Australian star is better in the red ball cricket whereas the Indian skipper is best among all the formats.
Just as soon as this debate went off, a new controversy has now emerged which involves the umpiring issues. Warne gave this opinion while discussing the wrong umpiring decisions which are spotted in almost every match.
Shane Warne during his commentary session stated that the on-field umpires must give their decision based on the number of reviews left with the team. This controversy took a whole new turn as Twitter started reacting to it in its own way. It took the entire world with a shock as his statement obstructed the fair gameplay rules of cricket.
The Twitterati was not happy with Shane Warne’s view and they started mocking him on the platform. All the users began to give their opinions on this issue as it has become a piece of trending news now. This is how Twitter has reacted to it (these are some of the more polite Tweets):
Shane Warne just explaining how to bully people there… please sack him @SkyCricket

They get about as many right as they always have. The close ones are the most annoying- when was the last time Australia had an umpires call go there way?
— Craig Byron (@CraigByron1) September 7, 2019
Shane Warne chats some shit. Why should the umpire give a decision out because the batting team have reviews left?

Dear Mr.Warne @ShaneWarne exactly the same I tweeted after the headingley game I think 🤔 what u discussed now with #NaserHussain was fair enough to help the game to reduce the umpiring error pic.twitter.com/xAitV0dtVQ

Shane Warne talking fucking nonsense again.. umpires should not be making decision based on who and how many reviews teams have got left
— Tony Walker (@tonywalks_1965) September 7, 2019
@ShaneWarne You can’t honestly expect the umpire to make decisions based on who has a review left! 🤦♂️
— Peter Norris (@NYC2SN1) September 7, 2019
So Shane Warne believes umpires should give players out based on which teams have reviews left, not on merit. Okay
— Todd Davey (@ToddJDavey) September 7, 2019
Why is Shane Warne saying that the umpire should give the decision in favour of Australia because England still had reviews left, and Australia didn’t?
Is he an idiot?
Umpires are not meant to give decisions in favour of teams with fewer reviews.
