When it comes to cricket, toss plays a vital role in it. And when it comes to playing on Indian soil, the pitches deteriorate with the passage of time and the team that gets to bat first always gets an upper hand in the game.
However, toss is all about luck and seems like Faf du Plessis, the South African skipper’s luck is not in his favor for a long time. The South African cricket team is struggling not just with runs but also with the toss.
After losing the toss for the first two games and dully paying the price, Faf du Plessis decided to bring a proxy for the final match today in Ranchi. The under pressure and out of luck batsman Faf du Plessis brought his teammate Temba Bavuma with him for the toss. Commentator Murali Kartik called Temba Bavuma the proxy captain before India skipper Virat Kohli tossed the coin.
But bringing a proxy player with him didn’t bring any luck for Faf as they lost the toss again. A video of Virat Kohli is making rounds on the internet where he can be seen trying to control his laughter as Faf du Plessis brings proxy with him but still loses the toss.

After the toss, Faf spoke about bringing his teammate for the toss. He said:
“It shows that it isn’t meant to be (about using Bavuma as a proxy skipper for luck). Important toss as this looks the driest surface of the series. It’s about the first innings really and we need to put runs on the board when we bat. One forced change with Aiden (Markram),”
