Irfan Pathan Explained The Reason Behind The Change In Mitchell Starc’s Deliveries

One of the most-awaited three-match ODI series between India and Australia finally kickstarted today at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Before the match started the Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first.

Kickstarting the game with a bang as the Indian cricket lost their big wicket, Rohit Sharma in the fifth over of the game. While the Indian batsmen collapsed, the Australian bowlers looked great in form. The visitors kept the Indian cricket team under-par scored and restricted them to a total of 255 runs.

However, there was one thing that caught everyone’s attention was the difference in the swing that both the Aussie new-ball opening pair were delivering. The change was evident to all. While Pat Cummins was seen darting around the ball in the initial overs of the game, on the other hand, Mitchell Starc was seen bowling cross-seam.

Mitchell Starc’s spell not just dismissed Rohit Sharma but also troubled Shikhar Dhawan with his yorkers and the angles of Starc’s deliveries. However, Shikhar Dhawan somehow managed to get out of out the difficult phase.

Recently, Mitchell Starc has undergone a change in his bowling action, which was also noticed by the former Indian left-arm seamer Irfan Pathan. He took to his twitter and shared that the change in ‘LOADING’ in his bowling action may be the reason behind him getting less swing. He wrote:

“There is a change in the LOADING in his bowling action for some reason and I think that’s the reason #starc isn’t getting the swing, on the contrary, the other end #cummins able to move the ball with repetitive action… #INDvsAUS,”
