The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, is currently on a 34-hours visit to India. Trump, who arrived at India shores early on Monday morning, landed in Ahmedabad to kickstart his India visit. Trump, who is accompanied by first lady Melania Trump along with other dignitaries from the US, was welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the city.
Trump, after landing, visited the Sabarmati Ashram to pay homage to the ‘Father of the Nation’, Mahatma Gandhi. After his mini-stay at the Ashram, Trump along with Melania departed for the much-anticipated event at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. The President addressed the gathering of more than one lakh people at the newly constructed world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad.
During his speech, Trump referred to some of India’s Bollywood classics mentioning the names of DDLJ and Sholay. However, what caught the attention of all the cricket fans when Trump alluded to the names of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli while his address during the event.
Trump fails to pronounce Sachin’s name correctly
While most of the Indian fans were ecstatic when Trump referred to Sachin’s name, it also indicated the President’s lack of knowledge about the most loved sport in India. In his speech, Trump wrongly pronounced Sachin’s name which got quite a lot of attention on Social media. He struggled to call both Sachin and Kohli’s name, referring them as ‘Soochin Tendulkar’ and Virat Kolee respectively.
Even the ICC didn’t hold back in bringing out the funny quotient from the incident. ICC posted a video taking a subtle dig at President Trump. In the video, ICC can be seen making changes to their database in updating the legendary batsman’s name to ‘Soochin Tendulkar’ as pronounced by Trump.
Here’s what ICC tweeted:
