In the last couple of months, KL Rahul has finally proved that he is one of the best batsmen in the world across all three formats of the game and he is an asset for Indian cricket. Rahul, who was struggling to make an impact because of lack of consistency, is now playing with a lot of confidence and making solid and impactful contributions at the top of the order.

In the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand, KL Rahul was one of the best performers for India with the bat and he made a massive contribution by also keeping the wickets and allowing India to play an extra all-rounder.

In the fifth and last match of the T20I series that India won 5-0, KL Rahul once again showed good skills behind the stumps and earned the love and respect of the fans by executing a brilliant run-out.  KL Rahul implemented an amazing run-out that would make even the great MS Dhoni proud.

The run-out happened in the third over of New Zealand’s innings when Sanju Samson picked the ball and threw it towards the stumps. but no one was near the stumps to back up for Samson’s throw. KL Rahul came running from nowhere and dived full-length forward to collect the ball and dislodged the bails. It was an MS Dhoni-Esque dismissal and fans on social media drew immediate comparisons.

And here’s how fans reacted:

We know that Indian cricket fans are very passionate about their team and they love all those who perform and making winning contributions but it would be too early to draw comparisons between MS Dhoni and KL Rahul. Dhoni is a legend of the game and he has done a lot for Indian cricket–as a batsman, wicketkeeper and captain–whereas KL Rahul has just started and he has a long way to go as far as filling MS Dhoni’s gigantic shoes is concerned.

But, having said that, it also needs to be added that KL Rahul has shown a lot of promise and we all would be hoping that he goes on to achieve great things in Indian colors.
