IPL 2020: 3 Players Who Can Win The Emerging Player Award

IPL 2020: After the India-South Africa ODI series, all the focus will shift on the much-awaited 13th season of the IPL. The official broadcasters Star India, have started the ad campaign in full flow with the top players featuring in some of these ads. Everybody is eagerly waiting for the next season of the biggest T20 league.

IPL is a great platform for youngsters and as the tagline suggests, it is a place where talent meets opportunity. Young talented cricketers from all parts of the world come and perform against the best. Every year we have a young player who performs extremely well and gets the emerging player award. In 2019, Shubman Gill won the award who is now constantly knocking the door for a place in the Indian team.

The award gives recognition and more motivation to perform at the highest level. So, let’s have a look at three young players who can win this award in IPL 2020.

Tom Banton – KKR

Kolkata Knight Riders have picked up the young wicket-keeper batsman from England for his base price of 1 CR in this year’s auction. In the recently concluded BBL, he smashed five consecutive sixes in a game against Sydney Thunder.

At the moment, there is a lot of hype about this young aggressive lad from England. He bats a bit like Kevin Pietersen and the pitch at Eden Gardens will suit him. If backed properly, he could be a match-winner for his team.

Many people want to see this young batsman from England and it won’t come as a surprise if he starts dominating the bowlers in IPL 2020. With his power-hitting abilities, he has a genuine chance of winning the Emerging player award.

Ravi Bishnoi – KXIP

Kings XI Punjab who has a new head coach in Anil Kumble picked up the young leg-spinner for 2 CR in this year’s auction. The right-arm leg-spinner was brilliant in the U-19 World Cup.

He was the leading wicket-taker as he picked up 17 wickets in just 6 games. Bishnoi bought his team back in the Final as he picked up four wickets in quick succession. Bishnoi’s main weapon is the Wrong’un which many batsmen have failed to understand.

If Bishnoi performs well in the IPL 2020, he has a chance of winning the Emerging Player Award trophy at the end of the season.

Yashasvi Jaiswal – RR

Rajasthan Royals picked up the superstar of the Indian U-19 team in Yashwasvi Jaiswal for 2.4 CR. The left-handed batsman from Mumbai was the leading run-scorer in the tournament as he scored 400 runs in 6 games at a staggering average of 133.33. In the final, on a difficult wicket, he was the only batsman to get a decent score on that pitch.

At this young age, he has a List A double hundred to his name. The team management at Rajasthan rate him highly and there is no doubt that he will get a lot of opportunities in the XI. Jaiswal has all the talent and the stage is perfectly set for him, so it won’t be a surprise if he wins the Emerging Player Award in IPL 2020.
